A Custom Field is a field you create in addition to Everspruce’s built-in fields.

How to Create a Custom Field in Everspruce
Only a zone’s admin can add or edit Custom Field definitions in the app. If you have admin access, here’s how to create one:
- Open Everspruce.
- Go to Home.
- Tap the Settings icon (the gear icon) in the upper right.
4. Scroll down to Additional Fields.
5. Tap Add Custom Field.
6. Give the field a name. A handful of names are already used by Everspruce for its own built-in details, so a small set of names aren’t available for a Custom Field.
7. Choose the field’s type from the eight options above.
8. Choose which entry types the field applies to: Area, Box, and/or Item.
9. Turn on Required if every matching entry should have a value filled in.
10. If you chose Dropdown, add at least two options for people to choose from.
11. Optionally, set a default value that will be pre-filled for new entries.
A zone can currently hold up to 50 Custom Fields, which is plenty of room for most households and organizers to track everything they care about.
Managing your Custom Fields
You can return to Additional Fields at any time to manage your Custom Fields.
From there, you can:
- Edit a field’s name, Required setting, and applicable entry types.
- Reorder fields so the ones you use most appear first.
- Turn fields off when you don’t currently need them.
- Delete fields you no longer want.
There are two important things to remember.
Field types can’t be changed after creation. For example, a Text field can’t later be converted into a Currency field.
Turning off and deleting are different. Turning a Custom Field off hides it while preserving it for later. Deleting a Custom Field is permanent, and previously saved values will no longer be shown in the app.
If you think you might need a field again, turn it off rather than delete it.
