When you add an entry in Everspruce, you decide whether it includes a photo using the With Photos toggle in the add menu. By default, With Photos is turned off, so new entries are added without a photo unless you choose otherwise. Your choice is remembered while you keep working, so you can set it once and keep adding.
The With Photos option works for every type of entry:
• Areas – such as Kitchen, Garage, or Master Bedroom
• Boxes – containers inside an Area
• Items – your individual belongings
Whether you’re creating a new room, labeling moving boxes, or adding individual possessions, taking a photo is completely optional.
When Should You Add Home Inventory Items Without Photos?

How to Add Entries Without Photos in Everspruce
On iOS and Android:
- Open the Everspruce app.
- Tap the add button to open the add-entry menu.
- Tap the With Photos switch to turn it off. If Batch Mode was already on, this automatically turns Batch Mode off too, since the two can’t be used together.
- Choose the type of entry you want to add: Area, Box, or Item.
- If you’re adding a Box or Item, choose which Area or Box it belongs in.
- Enter a name for the entry. Every entry needs its own unique name.
- Tap Save.
On the Web:
- Open the Everspruce Web App.
- Open the add-entry menu in the bottom-right corner.
- Turn With Photos off.
- Choose Area, Box, or Item.
- If you’re adding a Box or Item, select where it belongs.
- Enter a unique name.
- Select Save.
What Happens When You Add an Entry Without a Photo?
An entry only ever needs a name to save; skipping the photo doesn’t limit anything else you can record. A couple of things worth knowing:
- Batch Mode requires photos. If you turn on Batch Mode, With Photos will automatically be enabled. If you turn With Photos off, Batch Mode will turn off.
- Photos can always be added later. Entries added without photos display the Everspruce placeholder image, making it easy to identify entries that don’t yet have a photo.
Important Tips
- Your choice sticks. Everspruce remembers the With photos setting while you work, so you can leave it off and add several entries in a row without photos.
- A name is all you need. The only required detail is the entry’s name. Everything else, including a photo, is optional.
- Any entry type works. Areas, Boxes, and Items can all be added Without a Photo.
